Satheesh Karra specializes
on client counseling, patent preparation
and prosecution, opinion drafting,
transactions and licensing, copyrights
and due diligence. He is especially
active in the areas relating to open
source, including code-scanning and
evaluation, electrical engineering
and computer-related technologies.
Mr. Karra received his B.S. degree
in Electronics & Telecommunication
Engineering from Osmania University,
India. Mr. Karra also received his
M.S. degree in Electronics & Computer
Engineering from George Mason University,
and a J.D. degree, with specialization
in Intellectual Property Law, from
George Mason University School of
Law.
Earlier, Mr. Karra was associated
with MCI Worldcom (now Verizon Communications).
Mr. Karra’s duties included
patent preparation and prosecution,
patent portfolio management, client
counseling, invention disclosure evaluation,
and U.S. and international patent
filing determinations in electronics
and computer engineering technologies,
focusing on telecommunications and
internet architecture technologies.
Mr. Karra then went on to become a
Senior Intellectual Property Attorney
with IBM Corporation, where he worked
at the T.J. Watson Research Center,
as Staff Counsel in IBMs Corporate
Intellectual Property & Licensing
Department. Prior to joining Kramer
& Amado, P.C., Mr. Karra completed
a 3-year International Assignment
to India for IBM Corporation where
he was Site Counsel for IBM India
supporting all IBM divisions in India
and managing the India IP law department.
He is registered to practice before
the United States Patent and Trademark
Office and is admitted to the State
Bar of Virginia.
